In collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, IHP sponsors the National Youth Research Grants (NYRG) for 2 select students each year. The NYRG is based on global models of funded scholarships, which serve as cornerstone mechanisms for developing future leaders and professionals.
We believe that high school students in Pakistan are among the brightest in the world. Their vast achievements in both academic and extracurricular fields serve as a testament to that. However, the glaring issue of poverty remains the biggest barrier preventing gifted students from becoming leaders in their fields.
To help students who have the ability to contribute meaningfully to their country by receiving education from some of the world's best institutions, IHP established a permanent scholarship that assists students who wish to study abroad with an annual research grant. This scholarship is open to all students under the age of 20, from both public and private institutions. Students are selected through two programs: the Automatic Consideration (AC) program, which primarily identifies outstanding students from public schools across Pakistan, and the Demonstration of Interest (DOI) program, which is for high schoolers from other backgrounds.
Students can apply under either the STEM or Humanities grant streams. The decision to apply in a specific stream must be representative of the students' extracurricular and academic profiles. The selection board strongly prefers students who have conducted groundbreaking research, achieved international accolades, and have a meaningful story of growth and development.
If you have been shortlisted to apply through our AC program, send in module 1 of your application through our portal. Complete your personal statement of 1200 words, fill in your biographical details, and elaborate on any extracurricular achievements attained during high school. Mention and link any past research work conducted, and explain the research you wish to conduct in the future. (Students applying through DOI must complete module 2, which includes additional mandatory fields listing their past educational history and supplemental questions).
Take our specially developed evaluative test, which assesses your logical reasoning, spatial reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and decision-making skills. Students with a SAT score above 1500 or an ACT score above 34 may elect to skip the test (proof of testing is mandatory).
Students who have successfully passed testing are contacted by a single member of our network of students/postgraduates for a one-on-one interview. This interview primarily assesses the student’s personality and verbal skills, and allows for clarification regarding questions around student applications.
The organizational committee, composed of board-certified psychologists, professors, and educational administrators, conducts individual interviews of 20 selected students. After the interviews, they select one student from the STEM stream and one from the Humanities stream. This interview is designed to assess the student’s competence, potential, and ability to significantly contribute to the research work of their choice.
IHP: Impacting Lives, Changing Communities. Driving positive change through community
development and social justice.
At the dawn of the new millennium, one of our founders envisioned a Pakistan that would stand tall as a beacon of hope and progress in Asia. Slowly, this vision turned into a reality as other like-minded individuals joined forces for the same cause. Educated at some of the most prestigious universities, we aimed to utilise our skills in service to our nation.
Our extensive network of over 1,000 volunteer Pakistanis spans the globe, from the heart of Silicon Valley to various other prominent locations. These individuals include researchers, engineers, doctors, lawmakers, lawyers, and more. Through this diverse network, we tap into a wealth of global expertise and best practices. In conjunction with this network, our dedicated research team continually evaluates data and relevant information available online, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of innovation and excellence.
We believe that meaningful change requires focused and sustained effort. Our philosophy is that national transformation can only occur through persistent dedication. Hence, we limit ourselves to four Projects or Initiatives for Prosperity (IPs) at any given time. We remain steadfast and do not shift our focus until we observe tangible impact across every corner of Pakistan.
